GLENS FALLS, N.Y., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- What can you buy with a dollar anymore? Is $1 worth anything? How about a mammogram, doctor's appointment, and treatment for those who cannot afford to battle breast cancer? Fresh off a cross-country journey to promote early detection, Brandon Mendelson and the 1 in 8 Foundation are challenging five million Americans to show the world the power of $1 and provide care and complete support for women and men battling breast cancer in the worst economy ever seen. On www.thebrandonshow.com, Mendelson and the foundation are challenging five million Americans to donate $1 to a "100% transparent, 100% of the time" fund that will be used to pay for "360 degree care" for those in need. From the first visit to treatment and recovery, the foundation is there to cover it. The fund's balance sheet and how the money is used will be available through the 1 in 8 Foundation by mail, phone, or email request.

"My grandmother, Esther Mendelson, lost everything while battling cancer. She lost her home, all of her money, and there was nothing left for her during her battle. I don't want that to happen to anyone else," Brandon Mendelson said. "With the cost of cancer medication high and the number of Americans unemployed and without health insurance higher, the 1 in 8 Foundation wants to step up and provide 360 degree support for those battling breast cancer. And with a national wallet tightening occurring, we have made it so every single $1 donated is 100% transparent so our fellow Americans know their money won't be squandered."

Brandon Mendelson is organizing the five million American challenge from his home in Glens Falls, New York, recording daily production updates on his website and coordinating with his audience of over 170,000 on popular social networking website, Twitter.
