Tensilon test


Tensilon test, also called the edrophonium test - Edrophonium (brand name Tensilon) is a drug that temporarily increases the amount of acetylcholine in the neuromuscular junction.

Tensilon testA test for diagnosing myasthenia gravis. Tensilon is injected into a vein and, if the person has MG, their muscle strength will improve for about five minutes.

Diagnosis of MG is usually confirmed with a Tensilon test. With this test, a small amount of medicine (Tensilon) is injected into the child. If the child has MG, an immediate, but brief, increase in muscle tone is noted.
