TissueRuptor System

Purity of DNA has a significant effect on the accuracy of results in genotyping applications. Sensitive downstream applications demand the use of highly pure DNA for reliable results. The TissueRuptor enables efficient disruption of tissue samples before purification of high-quality DNA using the AllPrep DNA/RNA Mini Kit (Figure 3). Significant time savings are gained when using the QIAamp DNA Mini Kit for DNA purification as the lysis step with proteinase K can be reduced to just 1 hour. Purified DNA performs well in PCR (Figure 4).



High yields of nucleic acids from a range of sample types
Yields of nucleic acids depend on the sample type and the procedure used for purification. For repeatable results and higher RNA yields from tissues, samples can be stabilized in RNAlater RNA Stabilization Reagent and stored or transported in RNAlater TissueProtect Tubes. Typical yields of RNA and DNA from a range of sample types are shown in Tables 1 and 2.



Protein purification from animal tissues
Efficient sample disruption is a prerequisite for successful protein purification. After disruption using the TissueRuptor, phosphoproteins were successfully purified from animal tissue (Figure 5), with phosphoproteins detected only in the eluate.
