John P. Kotter and others have written at length on leadership and leading change, but most of their work is aimed at the on-the-org-chart leaders and that focus is understandable. Not a lot of people see themselves as off-the-org-chart leaders, so writing books for people who don't acknowledge they're part of that leadership audience is a losing proposition.
