Four New CastAway Precast Gels

CastAway precast gels* eliminate the need to manually pour gels, saving up to 4 hours preparation time. Stratagenes quality guarantee means no more gels lost to bubbles or leaking. All CastAway gels are guaranteed to maintain stability for a minimum of 60 days from the date of manufacture, with no detectable deterioration in band resolution.

6% CastAway Gels with 32 Preformed Wells

Stratagene adds a new 6% gel to the growing list of precast gels. These new gels have all the features of the original 6% CastAway gels with the added benefit of preformed wells. Preformed wells eliminate the need to insert a sharks-tooth comb into the gel, simplifying set up and sample loading. Preformed wells also lessen the risk of crossover from neighboring gel lanes, reducing contamination of adjacent samples. Each well is 3.5-mm wide for easy rinsing and loading of sample volumes of up to 4.5 l.

6% Nondenaturing CastAway Gels

With the release of the new nondenaturing gels for the CastAway system, applications requiring native polyacrylamide gels, such as SSCP, can now be run in a fraction of the time of manually poured gels. The new prepoured nondenaturing CastAway gels are composed of 6% polyacrylamide in 1X TBE.

Native polyacrylamide gels can be advantageous in applications such as differential display since higher resolution denaturing polyacrylamide gels produce data that can be too complex for differential display and SSCP analysis. For each unique cDNA fragment, nondenaturing gels exhibit a single band where you would see several bands on a denaturing polyacrylamide gel. This means that nondenaturing gels are the ideal choice for many applications.

5.5% Long Ranger Gels

Stratagene has joined forces with FMC Corporation, manufacturers of the Long Ranger sequencing gel solution, to bring you CastAway precast gels made with the Long Ranger gel matrix. This new CastAway gel is composed of 5.5% Long Ranger gel solution, 8.3M urea and 1X TBE.

The Long Ranger gel solution is a chemically unique gel formulation, optimized for manual DNA sequencing. The larger, more uniform pores allow faster DNA migration than an equal percentage acrylamide gel. The Long Ranger gels provide 30% more information than polyacrylamide gels and allow you to either read more sequence or complete short extensions faster. The speed and convenience of the CastAway system, combined with the longer read capabilities of the Long Ranger solution, make the Long Ranger gels for the CastAway system ideal for high-resolution, peak-performance sequencing.

This CastAway gel is made with FMCs Long Ranger sequencing gel solution, a high-performance gel matrix that delivers superior resolution and longer read length.

12% CastAway Gels with 32 Preformed Wells

Stratagene adds 12% CastAway precast gels with 32 preformed wells to the CastAway system product line. The new 12% CastAway gels are ideal for DNA footprinting, analysis of oligonucleotides and other applications requiring the use of high-percentage polyacrylamide gels for resolution of smaller DNA fragments. The12% CastAway gels feature 32 preformed wells, which reduce crossover contamination from adjacent wells, and have a loading volume of up to 4.5 l.The preformed wells were designed to accommodate 8-channel pipettors for easy loading of multiple samples.
