Vineland Welcomes Dr. Isabelle Lesschaeve as Research Chair, Sensory and Consumer Sciences

VINELAND, ON, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ - Vineland Research and Innovation Centre, an independent, not-for-profit corporation established to create a world-class centre for horticultural science and innovation, today announced the appointment of Dr. Isabelle Lesschaeve to the new role of Research Chair, Sensory and Consumer Sciences.

"As the Research Chair, Sensory and Consumer Sciences at Vineland, Dr. Lesschaeve brings a wealth of international expertise and a tremendous network of horticulture industry contacts to her new position," said Dr Jim Brandle, C.E.O. of the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre. "Her extensive research in taste, aroma and texture and how these attributes directly affect consumer behaviours will be of paramount importance to our growers as it unlocks key insights into profitability and sustainability for the horticulture industry."

In this new role, Dr. Lesschaeve will work closely with consumer researchers, plant breeders, production researchers and stored products specialists, along with the rest of the Vineland team, to build upon current research in the areas of horticulture breeding, production and yield security. This role will also work to develop collaborate research programs with academia and both the public and private sectors in order to share expertise and knowledge as well as establish research protocols that meet the highest international standards of excellence.

Prior to joining Vineland, Dr. Lesschaeve was the director of the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI) and an Associate Professor in the Biological Sciences Department at Brock University.
