Two Lehigh Valley Healthcare Leaders Collaborate to Deliver Safer, High-Quality Care to the Community
Date:8/27/2009

man and Chief Executive Officer Caroll H. Neubauer.

"B. Braun serves hospitals and healthcare professionals worldwide, so we're extremely proud to help Good Shepherd provide safe, effective and high-quality care here at home - our home - in the Lehigh Valley," said Neubauer. "Healthcare in our area has taken an important step forward with the continuing expansion of the high-quality services Good Shepherd provides and with innovative medical technology B. Braun employees develop."

Neubauer said the Outlook(R) ES Safety Infusion System in use at GSRN helps ensure that patients receive the correct medication in the correct dose from a clinician authorized to administer it. The system also alerts healthcare professionals when dose limits are exceeded.

B. Braun's Outlook(R) ES is designed to be safe, accurate and easy-to-use. The technology promotes safety with customized drug libraries that allow healthcare professionals to administer the appropriate doses of medication without numerous programming steps that frequently lead to errors. As GSRN continues to raise the bar of patient safety and expand services, the Outlook(R) ES offers a scalable, flexible design that will enable it to meet future needs. The system can be easily upgraded with additional safety features such as barcoding technology that provides an additional measure of protection against medication errors.

GSRN also implemented B. Braun's SPACE(R) Infusion Pump System, which is designed for use in adult and pediatric facilities where space may be limited and safety is critical. SPACE(R) measures nine inch
