Time Domain Corporation Available to Discuss UWB Real-Time Location Systems
(RTLS) in Healthcare Based on JAMA Report
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Time Domain Corporation issues the following:
WHAT:
On Wednesday, June 25, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) published a report warning that radio frequency identification (RFID) may disrupt the operation of IV pumps and other medical equipment, and occasionally induce "potentially" hazardous incidents in medical devices.
The tests were performed on passive 125 kHz and 900 MHz RFID devices. The tests did not include ultra wideband (UWB) technology. UWB precisely locates and monitors the interaction of assets less than 1 meter through multiple walls for a host of new healthcare applications. It operates at transmit power levels more than 10,000 times smaller than the medical devices tested, and poses no significant interference in healthcare environments.
DISCUSSION POINTS:
Time Domain Corporation, (http://www.timedomain.com), a leader in precision ultra wideband (UWB) real-time location systems (RTLS), is available to discuss:
-- What FCC regulations limit the level of UWB power output.
-- Why UWB transmissions are indistinguishable from the unintentional RF noise that exists in hospital environments.
-- Why this means that current hospital medical devices are not affected by UWB.
