Medical Centers Simplify Clinical Workflow Using iSirona Technology

Panama City, Fla. (PRWEB) November 18, 2009 --iSirona®, an innovative provider of data automation solutions for healthcare providers, today announced the successful "go-live" of iSirona's DeviceConX at University Hospitals Geneva Medical Center and University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. Both facilities are part of Cleveland, Ohio-based University Hospitals and are using iSirona technology to deliver patient medical device data automatically to the Eclipsys Sunrise Electronic Medical Record.

The iSirona solution is unique in that it is patient-centric, rather than location-based, ensuring data is documented to the correct patient. In an effort to further simplify clinical workflow, University Hospitals has embedded iSirona's device association screen into Eclipsys Sunrise, giving clinicians the ability to associate a medical device to the correct patient without ever leaving the Eclipsys application.

The solution is currently automating the collection of GE patient monitor data, with future plans to collect data from Spacelabs, Philips and HP across 10 University Hospitals facilities.

"The University Hospitals system was in the process of rolling out Eclipsys for nurse documentation, and we recognized rather quickly that we needed to automate the collection of patient data from medical devices to realize the full value of electronic nurse documentation," explains John Hendricks, technology director of electronic medical records at University Hospitals. "Thanks to iSirona, now we can look forward to enhancing clinical workflow and integrating patient data from a wide range of device manufacturers."

"University Hospitals is a forward-thinking and prestigious hospital enterprise that sees the value of medical device data integration and its ability to improve quality of care and patient safety," explains iSirona CEO Dave Dyell. "This deployment is another endorsement that hospitals continue to see the value of iSirona's cost-effective approach for automated patient data collection."
