Grocery Produce Fighting for a Cause - Wholly 'Pink' Guacamole
Date:10/8/2009

FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Guacamole is a little prettier in October as your grocery's refrigerated fresh produce and deli sections introduce Wholly "Pink" Guacamole. Nielsen-ranked, top-selling Wholly Guacamole, is for the second year in a row, donating 15 percent of proceeds from October "PINK" sales to help fight for a cure. The pretty-in-pink box is a reminder of Texas-Based Wholly's support for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Pink Wholly Guacamole boxes retail at their regular price ($2.49-$5.00) and replace standard packaging in seven ounce and 14 ounce sizes for the month of October. Visit www.whollyguac.com.

Avocados have cancer fighting power, against oral cancer, prostrate cancer and possibly other types of cancer as supported by research conducted at Ohio State University's Comprehensive Cancer Center. Additionally, avocados are loaded with lutein which protects against eye diseases.

"Avocados are super-foods and loaded with nutrition and even cancer-fighting power," states nutritionist and food scientist, Dr. Marcia Walker, Fresherized Foods. "As Texas neighbors with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Wholly Guacamole is proud to offer our all-natural guacamole--in a pink box--in an effort to support research, awareness and healthy eating towards finding a cure," adds Walker.

While eating Wholly Guacamole might not be a cure for anything but hunger, the all-natural guacamole made from ripe avocados, is packed with nutrients and makes a healthier food choice than dipping in or adding mayonnaise on a sandwich.

Substitute Guacamole to avoid mayo (45), spinach dip (70) or ranch dip (90). "You'll get good fat
