INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BioStorage Technologies, a global leader in scientific asset management, biomaterial storage and cold chain logistics, will host its third in a series of four Global Sample Management Benchmarking Symposia in conjunction with the 4th annual Biorepositories Conference on Sept. 19, 2011 in Boston. Featuring presentations from a diverse panel of multidisciplinary professionals and experts within the biobanking community, the symposium will examine strategies for outsourced and onsite management of biospecimen samples.

"Biospecimen samples are critical scientific assets important to supporting today's research efforts, as well as validating future findings and advancing the development of novel therapies," said Gregory Swanberg, Chief Executive Officer, BioStorage Technologies. "BioStorage Technologies has been a strong supporter of the Biorepositories Conference since its inception four years ago, and holding our Global Sample Management Benchmarking in conjunction with such an impressive event was a natural fit for us."

The symposium will provide insight into trends, challenges and regulatory mandates affecting global biorepository operations, including: the emerging need for samples in specific disease areas, best practices for managing global patient consent of sample assets, onsite virtual management of sample inventories and regulatory concerns for sample management in China.

The robust speaker line up includes:

  • Dr. John Bloom, President, Bloom Consulting Services, LLC and Special Government Employee to the FDA
"Emerging Needs in the use of Biorepositories for Drug Development: Implications for Targeted Disease Therapies and Sample Asset Management"
