bioLytical Partners with Walgreens and Donates HIV Tests for National HIV Testing Day
Date:6/24/2015

bioLytical Laboratories Inc. today announced its support of various HIV testing initiatives and events taking place this week in recognition of National HIV Testing Day on June 27th. The Company has teamed up with Walgreens and Greater Than AIDS to provide free HIV testing and training to local AIDS service organizations and health departments across 150 cities in the United States. This national campaign occurs on and around National HIV Testing Day each year to raise awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and to encourage individuals to get tested.

It is estimated that over 1.1 million people are living with HIV in the United States and one in six don't know they are infected. Individuals on treatment can reduce their risk of spreading the virus by as much as 96%. Early diagnosis and treatment can save lives and is known to reduce the spread of HIV.

bioLytical is proud to be working with Walgreens, one of the largest pharmacy chains in the United States, as well as the Kaiser Family Foundation's group of Community Based Organizations (CBOs), AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) and private partners who make up the Greater Than AIDS coalition. bioLytical has donated INSTI™ HIV-1/HIV-2 Antibody Kits in support of free HIV testing to be provided at 180 convenient locations across the United States.

“Each partner organization is well suited to contribute to the cause and together we can create greater impact.” said Robert Mackie, President of bioLytical Laboratories. “INSTI is perfectly positioned for this event due to its quick and accurate results. No other test provides results in as little as sixty seconds thus allowing for up to 20 times the testing volume compared to other products on the market.”

Greater Than AIDS is dedicated to increasing awareness of the importance of testing, decreasing stigma, and facilitating conversations and education around testing. Walgreens has committed themselves to the cause like no other pharmacy and serves as a trusted neighborhood resource for testing and treatment, all in a stigma-free setting. bioLytical’s INSTI, its 60 second HIV test, is specifically suited to increase access to testing, increase number of individuals getting tested, all while reducing the anxiety and intimidation around testing.
