--Highlights prepGEM(TM) Tissue Kit's Rapid, Robust and Reliable DNA Extraction That Generates DNA Templates Outperforming Other Commercial Kits--

-- Samples Prepared from Mouse Tails Using prepGEM(TM) Yielded Over 34 Times the Amount of DNA Produced by Two Commercial Rapid Extraction Kits --

SOLANA BEACH, Calif. and HAMILTON, New Zealand, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- ZyGEM Corp. Ltd., a provider of innovative enzyme-based products for DNA extraction and other life sciences applications, today announced the availability of a new application note documenting the performance advantages of its prepGEM(TM) kits compared to other rapid commercial kits for small animal genotyping. The note specifically evaluates ZyGEM's prepGEM(TM) Tissue DNA extraction kits used in PCR assays for genotyping mice, a commonly-performed biomedical research application.

In the application note, ZyGEM researchers describe their experience extracting DNA and determining precise genotypes from mouse tail samples. Researchers performed extractions comparing ZyGEM's prepGEM(TM) Tissue kit with two other commercially available kits with similar protocols. They then amplified a relevant segment of DNA using PCR reagents supplied in the kits and also with an external amplification system. The prepGEM(TM) Tissue extractions and amplifications yielded superior results based on both qualitative and quantitative PCR comparisons of the amplified DNA.

"This new application note focusing on mouse genotyping demonstrates that our prepGEM(TM) Tissue kits easily produce rapid, robust and reliable DNA extraction that outperformed the other kits tested," said Paul Kinnon, CEO of ZyGEM. "Since small animal genotyping is a critical but often time-consuming aspect of biomedical research, we are pleased to make this comparative data available to our growing customer base."
