WellCentive Launches New Health Information Exchange Platforms
Date:12/11/2008

ATLANTA, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- WellCentive (http://www.wellcentive.com) today announced the launch of two new health care information technology (HIT) solutions designed to efficiently, securely and cost-effectively share patient data within a community of health care providers. WellCentive Gateway allows providers, such as physicians, to easily access patient data from a variety of outside HIT systems. WellCentive Connect is a health care technology platform which receives data from a variety of community HIT systems and can forward it to physicians, insurance companies and other authorized parties.

"The sharing and exchange of patient data within a community is often complicated and costly, and these barriers adversely affect patient care," said Paul Taylor, M.D., WellCentive co-founder, CEO and medical director. "WellCentive Gateway and WellCentive Connect bring cost-effective, community-wide solutions to the health care system, and break down the barriers to sharing and exchanging health care data. Our secure, community-oriented solutions provide a great deal of value to all of the health care stakeholders within a community."

-- WellCentive Gateway is a health care Single Sign-On (SSO) portal, which
allows physicians and their staff to access multiple HIT systems using
a single user ID and password. Once logged in, the user can easily
access patient information from a variety of outside systems, such as
hospital systems and labs. The user can also be automatically
authenticated directly into other systems providers may use on a daily
basis, such as e-prescribing systems and electronic medical records
       (EMRs).

-- WellCentive Connect is a cross-platform health care interface engine,
which receives data in any format from a variety of HIT systems and
automatically re-formats data into a single common format. This newly
re-formatted data is then sent to the physician's EMR or a payor's
database using a single outbound interface. WellCentive Connect
supports any different data transport methods and handles various types
of health care data, including physician notes, lab results, radiology
reports and PACS images, as well as nuclear medicine, vascular,
cardiology, pulmonary, physiology and other reports.

Insurance companies and hospitals are also able to utilize WellCentive
Connect to streamline IT operations. By using WellCentive Connect,
hospital systems can avoid building and maintaining multiple interfaces
for every EMR in use by their physicians. Instead, they can maintain a
single outbound interface within the WellCentive Connect system.

"WellCentive Gateway brings the provider to relevant patient data, instead of bringing data to the provider and with WellCentive Connect, providers are able to receive this data in a format they prefer," said Taylor. "These solutions are much more cost-effective, and deliver real savings and efficiencies to health care organizations."

WellCentive Gateway and WellCentive Connect are both available as stand-alone solutions, and WellCentive Gateway can also be combined with the WellCentive Registry system.

WellCentive Registry is an integrated Web-based, community-wide, point-of-care data repository, which provides point-of-care decision support, population management, comprehensive reporting, automated telephone patient outreach, secure messaging and other capabilities. WellCentive Registry, WellCentive Gateway and WellCentive Connect offer health care information exchanges (HIEs) and regional health information organizations (RHIOs) a comprehensive and cost-effective suite of community-wide data sharing and data exchange solutions.

"WellCentive already offers the most comprehensive preventive care and chronic disease management solutions available in the marketplace," said Taylor. "With the addition of WellCentive Gateway and WellCentive Connect, WellCentive now has the most extensive set of community-wide solutions available from any single health care IT vendor. With the specialized features of WellCentive Gateway and WellCentive Connect, entire health care communities can focus their attention on improving their patients' health, rather than spending their time using multiple IT systems to share and exchange health care information."
