(PRWEB) May 7, 2010 -- Unigen, Inc®, announces the launch of Nivitol™, a revolutionary breakthrough botanical anti-aging skin care ingredient. Unigen® has entered into multiple global license and supply agreements for Nivitol™ with some of the world's premiere manufacturers and marketers of quality skin care, makeup, fragrance and hair care products.

Nivitol™ is a natural botanical alternative, derived from the novel plant extract Dianella ensifolia, and has been scientifically proven to visibly improve skin appearance. Nivitol™ contains a unique enzyme-blocking, or tyrosinase-inhibiting, agent that reduces skin pigmentation and safely lightens skin color without any adverse side effects often found with harsh chemicals. Clinical studies have shown Nivitol™ to be up to 20x more effective than the leading whitening agents such as hydroquinone and kojic acid. It has been thoroughly safety tested by independent third party institutes and has shown no adverse side effects. Additionally, Nivitol™ is extremely potent and can be effectively used at 10-50x lower concentrations than competitive whitening agents making it a cost-effective alternative. It is highly compatible in formulation with other skin care ingredients and can be used as an active agent in creams, lotions, gels, masks and other cosmetic products.

Pat Schneider, Unigen’s Chief Business Officer is extremely upbeat about the opportunities for Nivitol™. “The market for skin whitening, brightening and lightening is $9.8B strong and growing.” said Schneider. Over the last 5 years, this interest has spread to Europe and the US as part of a worldwide anti-aging trend and growing consumer demand for products that reduce dark spots and provide an “even tone” or “tone correcting” benefit resulting in more youthful looking skin.

“We are very excited to be working with several forward thinking giants in the cosmetic industry to provide safe, novel botanical ingredients like Nivitol™ and help develop superior anti-aging products” commented Schneider. Unigen’s scientific expertise in researching and discovering patented, clinically effective, natural ingredients has made significant advancements in the development of next generation skin care products.    Schneider added, “Nivitol™ is taking skin care science to the next level. With more new advancements in development, Unigen® will continue to be a leader in providing cutting edge ingredients that have the potential to positively affect the lives of millions.”
