Un nouveau test moléculaire pour la surveillance active du SARM détecte les nouvelles souches d'une bactérie résistante aux antibiotiques

BALTIMORE, 19 novembre 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- BD Diagnostics, un segment de BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a annoncé aujourd'hui le marquage CE et le lancement en Europe du test BD MAX™ MRSA XT utilisé sur le système BD MAX™. Le test utilise la technologie de détection eXTended pour identifier précisément un large éventail de souches de Staphylococcus aureus résistant à la méthicilline (SARM) dans les prélèvements nasaux de patients susceptibles d'être colonisés par ce pathogène résistant aux antibiotiques. Il s'agit du seul test moléculaire entièrement automatisé destiné à la surveillance active du SARM qui détecte deux cibles : une cible spécifique des SARM (MREJ) [i], et les gènes de résistance mecA et mecC récemment découvert [ii].

La surveillance active utilisant des tests moléculaires pour la détection rapide du SARM est une stratégie éprouvée pour réduire la transmission dans les établissements de soins et aide à prévenir l'infection chez les patients vulnérables. Une détection imprécise pourrait contribuer à la transmission incontrôlée du SARM et à une utilisation inappropriée des ressources.
Pour de nombreux tests commerciaux, les souches de Staphylococcus aureus dans lesquelles le gène mecA est absent (aussi appelées « mutants dropout ») sont incorrectement détectées en tant que SARM. Ces faux résultats positifs peuvent conduire à un isolement coûteux et inutile ainsi qu'à des traitements excessifs pour le patient [iii].
