US Fermenters Market to Reach $180 million by 2015, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.
Date:2/22/2010

GIA announces the release of a US report on Fermenters market. The US market for fermenters is projected to reach $180 million by the year 2015. Growth in the market is being driven by increasing demand for biological drugs worldwide, and growing use of disposable or single-use fermenters.

San Jose, California (PRWEB) February 22, 2010 -- Fermenters are witnessing sizeable growth in demand, driven by increased development and production of biological drugs. Growth is being fuelled by increasing penetration of biological drugs in the global pharmaceutical market. However, increase in the overall fermentation capacity is expected to be sluggish, due in part to improving manufacturing processes that is enabling yield improvement at a given capacity.

Stainless steel tanks continue to dominate the fermenters market, as stated by the new market research report on Fermenters market. Key factors fuelling the continued presence of stainless steel tanks are high mixing speed, high cell concentrations, and short runs. However, the conventional stainless steel fermenter systems are making way for disposable components, which offer cost efficiency and timesavings. In response to this, manufacturers of fermenters are offering disposable fermenters or single-use fermenters. Disposable fermenters provide significant benefits, such as minimized operational times, reduction in plant validation, and enhanced flexibility.

In recent years, the fermenter industry became highly competitive, owing to the entry of several new players into the market. This was fuelled by substantial growth in the global
