UPM unterschreibt gemeinsames Entwicklungsabkommen mit Renmatix in Biochemikalien

HELSINKI, 11. Juni 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- UPM (OMX: UPM1V) und Renmatix, Inc., sind ein nichtexklusives Joint Development Agreement (JDA) (gemeinsames Entwicklungsabkommen) im Bereich von Biochemikalien eingegangen. Gemäß den Bedingungen des JDA werden beide Unternehmen weiterhin Renmatix's wasser-basis Plantrose™-Prozess entwickeln, um holzige Biomasse in kostengünstige  Zuckerzwischenprodukte umzuwandeln, für die anschließende Weiterverarbeitung in Biochemikalien. Das Angebot kosteneffektive Bioalternativen für ausgewählte Petro-Chemikalien an einem industriellen Maßstab ist das langfristige Ziel dieser Initiative.

"Der Zugang zu der zweiten Generation, Lignocellulose, süßt durch einen Prozess, der fast keine Zusatzstoffe verwendet, ist ein entscheidender Faktor in Plantrose-Technologies Attraktivität."

Das Plantrose-Verfahren verwendet Wasser bei sehr hohen Temperaturen und Druck, um Biomasse durch überkritische Hydrolyse abzubauen. Unter solchen Bedingungen kann Wasser sowohl als starkes Lösungsmittel und Katalysator wirken, wodurch schnelle Reaktionen kreiert werden.
