He has been a principal investigator for an FDA clinical study for Alcon, a laser manufacturer, regarding Custom Cornea treatment in farsighted patients with the LADARVision laser system and is a certified instructor for this laser. He is also a certified FDA instructor and mentor for VISX, another company that manufactures lasers for use in vision correction surgery. Doctor Gailitis has taught over 80 refractive eye surgeons in laser vision correction, presented over 21 lectures to fellow eye doctors at major meeting of professional eye organizations and over 20 at local and regional meeting. He has 3 patents related to eye care to his credit. In addition, he has published over 18 articles in peer-reviewed publications in the field of refractive surgery and serves as a reviewer of articles for the Journal of Refractive Surgery. In light of his professional experience, Dr. Gailitis has the proven expertise to help patients with a variety of vision problems to see more clearly.

Dr. Gailitis performs laser eye surgery, including LASIK, and vision correction refractive surgery procedures for patients with myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), blurred vision (astigmatism), and trouble reading (presbyopia). His practice at Ophthalmology Consultants, The Center for Lasik, provides premier patient care, including the use of the Ziemer FEMTO LDV laser for "All-Laser" or "Bladeless" LASIK, and the use of Wavefront Based ("Custom") LASIK and PRK using the Allegretto Wave laser. Dr. Gailitis offers not just laser eye surgery procedures like LASIK and PRK, but other procedures like RLE/CLE (lens implants), phakic implants, limbal relaxing incisions, Intacs, corneal transplants, and cataract lens implants procedures to provide his patients a fuller range of options when it comes to choosing the procedur
