Transgenomic Receives Accreditation From College of American Pathologists
Date:12/9/2008

OMAHA, Neb., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Transgenomic, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: TBIO) today announced that its laboratory has been awarded an accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of a recent on-site inspection. Transgenomic is now one of the more than 6,000 CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide.

Craig Tuttle, CEO of Transgenomic, said, "We are pleased to receive CAP-accreditation as further validation of our laboratory service offerings, which we are expanding by leveraging our base business of instruments and consumables with our related expertise in high sensitivity mutation detection analysis. We plan to immediately pursue the benefits of the accreditation in our pursuit of projects and revenue growth. We are confident that CAP accreditation will put Transgenomic on the map as a laboratory with the highest standard in molecular diagnostics."

The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government's own inspection program. During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory's records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine the entire staff's qualifications, the laboratory's equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as the overall management of the laboratory. This stringent inspection program is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for the laboratory's patients.
