The Sergeant Sullivan Center Encourages Broad Public Support of Its Marine Corps Marathon Team On CrowdRise
Date:7/31/2013

Washington, DC (PRWEB) July 31, 2013

From now through October 27, the date of the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC, Team Sergeant Sullivan Center (SSC), a coalition of runners and their supporters, will raise funds to support medical research, healthcare education, and public awareness on behalf of the one in three Veterans suffering from post-deployment illnesses. The platform of choice for raising funds in the days leading up to the race is Crowdrise.

CrowdRise is one of the fastest growing online fundraising websites. According to CrowdRise, the site's community was named a “Top 25 Best Global Philanthropist” by Barron’s and Mashable named CrowdRise “the best place to raise money online for your favorite causes.” The Sergeant Sullivan Center is proud to be adding CrowdRise to its arsenal of crowdfunding programs.

To date, The Sergeant Sullivan Center has raised over $10,000 through crowdfunding contributions, matched by gifts from individual philanthropists, in a series of campaigns, including on Indiegogo.com and DoMore24.org, a program of the United Way of the National Capitol Area.

"Crowdfunding is a great grassroots way of getting support for and generating awareness about our mission," says SSC President Daniel Sullivan. "The success of our multiple campaigns shows broad public support for our efforts to help Veterans with post-deployment illnesses, and each new donor is also somebody who will help us break the silence about these diseases, and help us advocate for innovative healthcare solutions."
