gy, Innovation and Government Reform Group on the transition team. During the 2008 election, Mr. Genachowski was one of the key architect's of Mr. Obama's historic web-based campaign. Prior, Mr. Genachowski was cofounder and managing director of Rock Creek Ventures, founding partner of LaunchBox Digital and a senior executive at IAC/InterActiveCorp. Mr. Genachowski also served as Chief Counsel to the Chairman of the FCC and was a law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter, U.S. Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan, Jr., and Chief Judge Abner Mikva of the U.S. Court of Appeals. He also worked in Congress on the staff of the special committee investigating the Iran-Contra Affair and for Senator (then Representative) Charles E. Schumer. Mr. Genachowski received a JD from Harvard Law School and a BA from Columbia College.

Mr. McDowell was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate on May 26, 2006, and sworn in as FCC Commissioner on June 1, 2006. Immediately prior to joining the FCC, Mr. McDowell was senior vice president and assistant general counsel for COMPTEL, an association representing a variety of telecommunications companies and interests. Prior, McDowell served as the executive vice president and general counsel of America's Carriers Telecommunications Association (ACTA), which merged with COMPTEL at that time. He has also been appointed by former Virginia Governor George Allen to the Governor's Advisory Board for a Safe and Drug-Free Virginia, and to the Virginia Board for Contractors. He was also a veteran of several presidential campaigns and has twice been a candidate for the Virginia General Assembly. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the McLean Project for the Arts. Mr. McDowell received his BA from Duke University and the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary.
