Sunset World will Consolidate its Presence in the Mexican Caribbean in 2013
Date:3/8/2013

this in mind it has invested more than one million pesos in replacing the lighting system in their six hotels with light bulbs using LED technology.

In order to encourage electrical energy savings, they will continue to implement technological renovation by generating electricity with wind and solar energy systems, acquiring cogenerating energy equipment, installing LED energy saving light bulbs and electronic single lever faucets with presence sensors to reduce water waste in bathrooms.

In order to make the administration of energy sources more efficient and contribute towards reducing contamination in the environment and the optimization of economic and natural resources, they will implement water saving systems in toilets, residual water treatment plants with aerobic systems, the collection of rain water, the use of a reverse osmosis plants to generate high quality water for human consumption and the placement of chlorine salinizers in swimming pools to avoid the use of chemical products.

Sunset World Resorts & Vacation Experiences will continue to promote Ethos, its farm in the Mayan jungle, which in 2012 produced more than 105 tons of farm products, including fruit and vegetables, as well as more than 100 thousand exotic flowers, such as birds of paradise, torch flowers and heliconias from the Valerian species, iris and Hawaiian flowers, and they are confident they can double their flower production this year.

For 2013 the challenge for the Ethos farm will be to supply almost all the fruit, vegetable and flowers for the Hacienda Tres Rios ecotourism complex and in 2014 achieve a production that will cover the supply needs of the group’s six hotels.
