Stratford Career Institute announces a new Veterinary Assistant career training course is now available to students.

Scranton, PA (PRWEB) July 4, 2010 -- Distance learning school Stratford Career Institute has announced that a new Veterinary Assistant course is now available to students. After nearly a year of planning, the popular career training school has finalized significant upgrades to the overall curriculum, including textbook updates and more.

Stratford says the course has been refocused to further emphasize the vast amount of tasks today’s veterinary assistants undertake on a daily basis. Upgrades include more detailed instruction on the care of a greater variety of animals, ranging from small and large animals to exotic pets and wild animals.

“The role of veterinary assistants and animal caretakers continues to change due to technological and pharmaceutical advancements. Therefore, we felt it important to ensure that our students are receiving the most up-to-date education possible,” said Dr. Claude Major, Director of Education at Stratford Career Institute.

Students begin the course by first gaining insight into the career field through the study of human relations with specific regard to the role of veterinary assistants in a modern animal care setting. Students then delve into medical terminology, animal anatomy and physiology, and animal communications and behavior. The course concludes by covering a range of veterinary assistant duties and tasks related to an extensive range of animals. Students will also learn about technology and equipment related to veterinary science.
