ANN ARBOR, Mich., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- MichBio, the association for Michigan's biosciences industry, announced that it has added the Michigan Biosciences Showcase to its program on day one of its 2008 Expo & Conference on November 18-19 at the Rock Financial ShowPlace Novi, MI. The event will provide 20 selected companies with an opportunity to introduce their bioscience technologies and emerging companies to an audience of venture capitalists and other investors, technology experts, and entrepreneurs.
The first showcase was held last May just prior to the Michigan Growth Capital Symposium in Ann Arbor and featured 12 companies.
"The MichBio Expo is an ideal venue for those with emerging biotechnologies to showcase their companies and draw attention to the innovative and promising work being done in and around Michigan," said Stephen Rapundalo, Ph.D., president, MichBio. "We expect to have state, regional and, hopefully, national investment firms present for the program."
Selected presenters will have the opportunity to gain exposure for their companies through brief oral presentations, descriptions in the showcase booklet, and tabletop displays in the Expo Exhibit Hall. The company presentations will take place from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and be followed immediately by the Expo Opening Reception where presenters will be able to mix and mingle with investors as well as Michigan's biosciences leaders, officials and other Expo attendees.
The Biosciences Showcase application for presenters is available online at http://www.michbio.org/Expo. Questions about the showcase should be directed to Steve Field at steve@michbio.org or 734-527-9145.
The annual MichBio Expo is the state's premier life science event,
attracting more than 450 attendees and 60 exhibitors last year. More than
70% of those attending the MichBio Expo are executives in life
