On-Demand Services Increase Flexibility While Reducing Cost and Risk

INDIANAPOLIS, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Sentry Logistic Solutions announced today that the company now offers temperature-controlled labeling, packaging and kitting services for the bio-pharmaceutical industry. Sentry adds controlled temperature On-Demand Services to its cGMP storage and distribution offerings. Sentry will be highlighting these new capabilities at the Bio International Convention in San Diego on June 17-20, at booth #2730.

"Custom Finishing Services are an integral part of the pharmaceutical supply chain," said Jennifer Marcum, Sentry's chief executive officer. "Sentry has the facility, expertise and quality systems to offer these valuable services On-Demand, providing our clients with flexibility in finished product delivery while reducing freight costs and storage fees. The ultimate goal of On-Demand Services is to manage risk and eliminate unnecessary supply chain costs while maintaining or exceeding service levels."

According to the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, five of the top ten reasons for pharmaceutical recalls include miscellaneous cGMP deviations, impurities in or degradation of products, lack of product stability, labeling errors on declared strength, and incorrect products in cartons or packages. Although the exact cost of these issues is unknown, reports indicate that the pharmaceutical industry spends billions annually to rectify these issues. Because Sentry offers a cGMP, validated storage facility and inventory management system, Good Manufacturing Practices are ensured, expiration dates are managed and tracked, product integrity is maintained, and labeling or re- labeling can be accurately executed to prevent costly errors.

Sentry's On-Demand finishing services can be executed within validated temperature environments to reduce or eliminate time-out-of-temperature. Benefits of this program include decreased product risk,
