Date:5/14/2008

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Sagent Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a privately-held specialty pharmaceutical company, today announced that it will contribute US$20,000 to the American Red Cross to assist the victims of Monday's earthquake in central China.

"As a part of the global community, we were saddened by the devastation experienced by the people of the Sichuan province," said Jeffrey M. Yordon, chief executive officer, founder, and chairman of the board of Sagent. "We hope our contribution to the recovery efforts there will help in some small way ease the burden for the Sichuan residents."

The earthquake's epicenter was 55 miles from Chengdu, Sichuan Province's capital with a population of 12 million people. In conjunction with its local joint venture partners, Chengdu Great Southwest Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Sagent is presently constructing an FDA-compliant, sterile, injectable, finished product manufacturing facility in Chengdu.
