" This Man Was Erroneously Convicted of Murder and a Wrong Should be put
Right by Granting a Pardon" Giovanni Di Stefano
ROME, October 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Giovanni Di Stefano has called upon the Secretary of State to pardon posthumously Dr. Hawley Harvey Crippen. In a letter supported by Dr John Trestrail who researched the flawed conviction based upon DNA, Di Stefano calls on the Secretary of State for the pardon to be 'effective forthwith notwithstanding the passage of time.' Other than the DNA evidence Di Stefano questions why the Prison Governor and Sir Winston Churchill, the then Home Secretary, failed to notify Crippen's defence team of a letter received on 25th October 1910 whilst Crippen was still an Appellant. Di Stefano says that if the letter was from Crippen's wife, the supposed victim, he could not be guilty of the murder as charged. 'Crippen always refuted claims he murdered his wife and the DNA evidence now concludes he was right' said Di Stefano. The Secretary of State for the Home Department will refer any prerogative of pardon to the Queen. A decision is expected shortly."
