The best and brightest of the pharmaceutical and biotech industries were celebrated at a glittering ceremony in London at the 2008 SCRIP Awards hosted by the leading UK broadcaster Peter Sissons on December 10th. At this award ceremony, which is one of the most prestigious recognitions for pharmaceutical organisations worldwide, Glenmark was recognised as the Best Pharma Company in the World - SME" and the "Best Company in Emerging Markets". SCRIP is the leading pharmaceutical magazine in the world which organises this award ceremony where all the big names in the pharma world not only compete for this recognition but also attend this award ceremony.

In a press statement issued by SCRIP, it states, 'Glenmark crowned a busy year by winning the SCRIP Awards for Best Company in an Emerging Market and Pharma Company of the year for small and medium-sized enterprises. In his judging, Dr. Richard Barker said the Indian firm, "scored well on almost all dimensions, showing dramatic growth in its generics business plus a promising early stage pipeline in some high potential areas for branded medicines." Other judges agreed, "Glenmark is a phenomenon!" said Dr. Viren Mehta.' The article further mentioned, 'While no company swept the board in 2008, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals were the night's biggest winners, each garnering two awards.'
