Manassas, VA (PRWEB) January 13, 2010 -- RiVidium Inc. supports Higher Education and Local Youth by establishing Five College Scholarships. The first is a two-year scholarship to be awarded to a graduating High School senior to pursue Bio-Technology studies at NoVA. The company will also sponsor four scholarships for community-active, graduating Lake Braddock High School seniors.
“Supporting higher education for today’s youth is critical to keeping our technological advantage in the world markets”, says Founder and CEO of RiVidium Inc. Manny Rivera. These scholarships highlight RiVidium’s commitment to partnering with the academic world. Other current partnerships are with Howard University and George Washington University where Manny Rivera is completing his doctoral study.
The annual NoVA scholarship will go to a local high school senior. To qualify, the student must be academically distinguished and be looking to study Bio-Technology at NoVA. “We need bright, young minds focusing on industries that will keep America great” added Mr. Rivera. RiVidium is doing their part to support this mission. “NoVA is excited about partnering with RiVidium to offer this opportunity for a High School graduate in our area” says Dr. Ia Gomez, from NoVA’s Biotechnology Outreach group.
The Lake Braddock scholarships will be awarded to four high school seniors. To qualify, the students must be exemplary academically and also be active in their community. “The goal is to inspire and reward community activity and leadership in the youth that will be leading our corporations tomorrow” says Xio Smith, RiVidium’s VP of Human Resources.
RiVidium will also soon embark on finding qualified candidates for its second summer internship program. The summer internship was built to model a mentorship program. The interns rotate through each RiVidium division, and then focus in one area of the interns choosing. “We hope that through the program, these interns can develop skills and relationships that will stay with them forever” adds Xio Smith.
