Rancho BioSciences Launches Rancho tranSMART Hosted for Clinical and Genomic Data Storage and Analysis
Date:9/4/2013

San Diego, California (PRWEB) September 04, 2013

Rancho BioSciences, the leading global scientific data consulting company announced today that they have open source tranSMART accessible via Rancho Hosted tranSMART Services. Rancho BioSciences has been actively running tranSMART on its servers for Pharma and institutes. This allows researchers to test platform capabilities before investing into adopting the solution in house and some groups prefer Rancho BioSciences to maintain and upgrade tranSMART for them. Other groups use Rancho hosted tranSMART as a collaborative platform between Pharma and academic partners. Rancho BioSciences is also building tools and additional functionality that will be released to the public domain to help the tranSMART community grow and strive.

tranSMART is a knowledge management platform that enables scientists to develop and refine research hypotheses by investigating correlations between genetic and phenotypic data, and assessing their analytical results in the context of published literature and other work. The platform was developed at Johnson & Johnson then released in to the public domain.

“We are part of the tranSMART development team and share our knowledge with the group on ETL, new scripts we have developed as well as curated data sets for testing”, said Dr. Tatiana Khasanova. “We feel it is very important for the group to be open and share information to make tranSMART be the best platform it can be.”

“We have been working closely with tranSMART since 2009 and know the platform intimately”, said Julie Bryant, founder and CEO of Rancho BioSciences. “We are helping our customers by curating genomic and clinical data to go into tranSMART and then using this information for analysis for patient stratification and biomarker development.”
