Forty Homes Repaired

ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- RPJ Housing, a Northern Virginia-based nonprofit provider of volunteer home repairs, affordable housing and services to persons with disabilities and life-threatening illnesses, has just completed its annual Rebuilding Together event.  Held April 24 and 25, the event drew more than 1,200 volunteers, who provided an estimated $300,000 worth of donated labor. A total of 40 homes were repaired, with an emphasis on life safety improvements, energy efficiency, and repairs that, if deferred, would result in higher total project costs. Those receiving assistance included the elderly, those with limited incomes, and persons with special needs or disabilities.

"RPJ Housing is grateful for the support of the many individuals, faith-based communities, and donors of building and other materials, all of whom worked to make this event possible," said RPJ Housing Acting Executive Director Eric Bonetti. "We are honored and humbled to be able to help strengthen our community and to be of service to our neighbors."

To date, RPJ Housing's volunteer home repair programs have improved 3,000 homes and drawn upon the skills of more than 65,000 volunteers. The cumulative value of volunteer labor provided via these programs is estimated at $11.5 million.
