Prof. Mario Tredici Shared Views on Algae Projects with Algae Business Players at Algae World!
Date:7/22/2009

Algae-based energy and biofuels projects now face critical challenge of cutting costs. According to Top Phycologist Dr. Mario Tredici, technological and biological breakthroughs can offer Algae Biofuels innovative solutions. In his presentation at Algae World, Prof. Tredici shared his innovative research on Algae projects with Algae Business players.

Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) July 22, 2009 -- Algae-based energy and biofuels projects have to contend with the crucial challenge of cutting costs to stay competitive in today's challenging economy. A new video, featuring Prof. Tredici's findings, reveal key facts on enhancing Algae biomass and Algae lipid productivity for more efficient biofuels production.

This video recording is presented as an exclusive sneak preview to the upcoming 2nd Algae World Asia held in Bangkok on September 29-30, 2009. Prof. Tredici, a veteran algae researcher with over 30 years of experience in the field, uses scientific methods to address some of the most fundamental challenges facing the algae business today.

Prof Tredici shared his findings at the recently concluded Algae World 2009 conference in Rotterdam. Prof. Tredici's presentation earned one of the highest audience ratings at the summit.

Prof Tredici commented, "We know there is a lot of interest in oil production from algae... so we went outdoors, and tested some microalgae species to get some numbers for improving oil productivity"

In the vide, Prof. Tredici shares findings from a study spanning two years, where he and his team identified 31 freshwater algae and marine algae species and subjected them to a battery of tests to increase their lipid and biomass yields. Using a combination of laboratory tests and outdoor tests, he reveals how nitrogen starvation can increase algal lipid productivity.
