Pine Grove Nursing Center Uses AccuNurse Interactive Care to Improve Care and Service Delivery

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Vocollect Healthcare Systems , part of Vocollect, a business unit of Intermec, Inc. (NYSE: IN), announces that Pine Grove Nursing Center has implemented AccuNurse® voice technology. AccuNurse interactive care allows Pine Grove to deliver quality care to patients and residents, while preparing for 2014 healthcare reform requirements.

AccuNurse interactive care enables Pine Grove CNAs to observe and accurately document care needs while they are bedside with patients. This allows clinical management to make timely adjustments in care plans that more effectively address changes in patient needs, and ensures that the informational loop is closed by inputting care plan changes into what the CNA hears the next time direct care is provided.

"We've observed a dramatic improvement in the ability of our CNAs to observe and accurately document patients' needs since the rollout of AccuNurse," said Julie Harbison, Administrator of Pine Grove Nursing Center. "AccuNurse's communications capability provides CNAs with an easy way to request from co-workers or input from a supervisor without ever leaving the patient. This positively impacts the quality and continuity of care for patients, and fosters an enhanced work environment for our team."

Since the deployment of AccuNurse, Pine Grove has seen falls reduced by 16 percent, bladder incontinence reduced by 24 percent and weight loss reduced by 3 percent.  The amount of documented time that CNAs spend providing direct care to patients has also increased since Pine Grove began using AccuNurse interactive care.

"Interactive care is about leveraging staff with technology that provides real-time access to care plans, resident data and interventions, said Maureen Ladouceur, Vice President of Clinical Solutions at Vocollect Healthcare Systems, Inc. "Embracing AccuNurse's real-time communication, documentation and clinical solutions expertise, allows Pine Grove to provide the most effective outcomes-driven care available for its residents and be a top competitor in their market."

Pine Grove invested in interactive care to increase performance by enabling more proactive care of residents and increasing productivity of its care teams. Pine Grove is part of a network of 26 skilled nursing facilities, managed by Stonegate Senior Living, in Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. Six Stonegate-managed facilities are currently using AccuNurse interactive care and the remaining 20 facilities will be implemented in 2012.
