Partnering for Philanthropy Conference Launched to Unite Innovative Non-profit Research Organizations with Philanthropists and Industry
Date:6/17/2008

ropy conference will bridge this gap and provide an opportunity for non-profit medical research and patient advocacy organizations to pinpoint vital funding and development commitments from pharmaceutical and biotech companies alongside philanthropists engaged in funding medical innovation."

Partnering for Philanthropy will offer researchers and potential developers and/or funding sources access to a proprietary online partnering system that will provide profiles of organizations, provide information resources and allow users to arrange meetings in real-time. Panel discussions at the conference will also focus directly on new developments in venture philanthropy and translational research. Preliminary program components will include:

-- Presentations by leading medical research and patient advocacy groups

-- Plenary sessions and panel discussions on translational research

funding

-- Case studies of investment by non-profit organizations in

biotechnology companies

-- One-on-one meetings between medical research and patient advocacy

organizations, philanthropists and biopharmaceutical companies

-- Networking opportunities

"This event is modeled after the partnering meetings developed by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and EBD Group which have changed the way pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies exchange information and do business," said Sara Jane Demy of Demy-Colton Life Science Advisors. "We believe the Partnering for Philanthropy conference will create extraordinary and much-needed opportunities to accelerate new drug development across numerous therapeutic fields."
