PacificGMP Announces Agreement with BD Biosciences for Cell Banking and cGMP Antibody Manufacturing
Date:10/10/2007

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- PacificGMP, a contract manufacturing organization specializing in the development and manufacturing of biologics through single-use bioprocessing components, announced today that it has signed an agreement with BD Biosciences, a segment of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), whereby PacificGMP will generate and provide storage for Master and Working Cell Banks and perform antibody manufacturing for BD Biosciences. The Master Cell Bank and antibody manufacturing will be conducted in compliance with current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) standards. Master and Working Cell Banks are a well-documented two-level storage system of mammalian cells. Cells from these banks may be used in production of biopharmaceuticals such as monoclonal antibodies, viral vectors or recombinant DNA products.

"We are pleased that BD Biosciences has chosen PacificGMP to perform mammalian cell banking and storage and antibody production under cGMP standards," said Leigh N. Pierce, president of PacificGMP. "PacificGMP is committed to the successful completion of this cell banking and antibody manufacturing project and to establishing a long-term development partnership with BD Biosciences."
