PMG Research Announces Clinical Trial Community with Smart Patients
Date:3/15/2017

PMG Research, Inc. announced today a collaboration with Smart Patients, an online community where patients and their families learn from each other. The Clinical Trial Community within Smart Patients will be launched to help patients and families learn from others who have participated in clinical trials, as well as to provide information for those who are curious about clinical research.

According to the 2015 CISCRP Perceptions & Insights Study of clinical research, 95% of participant respondents would recommend clinical research participation to friends and family, yet only 58% shared their experience with others. Smart Patients and PMG Research collaborated on the creation of the Clinical Trials Community in order to improve opportunities to discuss the participation experience and build awareness of clinical research as a care option.

“We are thrilled to have worked with Roni and the Smart Patients team to launch this community, not only for PMG patients, but for clinical research participants or interested patients everywhere,” explains Jennifer Byrne, CEO of PMG Research. “It is an innovative opportunity to further the dialogue on clinical research as a valuable care option while giving those in the community the chance to exchange information in a safe and welcoming environment.”

“We often underestimate how much patients and families can learn from each other. When patients learn directly from others who have been in clinical trials, they are able to ask their physicians and researchers more informed questions,” adds Roni Zeiger, CEO of Smart Patients. “We are totally aligned with PMG’s philosophy that clinical research should be considered as a care option.”

The Clinical Trial Community will launch March 15, 2017 at smartpatients.com.
