Date:3/16/2009

Serialization and Authentication Technology & Services Provider, Offers Traceability Down to the Unit Level to Secure Products and Protect Brands and Consumers

Southborough, MA (PRWEB) March 16, 2009 -- PHARMORX Security™, a privately held, serialization, authentication, and track and trace technology services provider, today announced the availability of its new comprehensive technology solutions. The company, which offers anti-counterfeiting and diversion control solutions from the point of manufacturer through to the consumer, offers its tool set to companies in the pharmaceutical, tobacco and beverage industries, as well as others. They will be showcasing their new technologies March 17 - 19 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City during INTERPHEX 2009.

The company's offerings address product security, consumer protection and brand integrity. These unique technologies and services allow users to identify products down to the unit level, offering manufacturers the ability to track their products from distributor to wholesaler, through to the retailer, and ultimately to the consumer. This ability provides traceability for manufacturers, law enforcement and other product inspectors throughout the supply chain to obtain important data to identify points of entry of counterfeit products. It also allows them to minimize gray market diversion and guarantees product authentication in the field.

"Diversion control and counterfeiting are concerns that affect a wide variety of industries throughout the US and internationally. This is especially true for the pharmaceutical industry where the outcome of these problems can be fatal, or at a minimum extremely costly," stated PHARMORX president and CEO, Steve Wood. Up to 90% of Internet drug sites sell adulterated drugs and up to 40% of drug deaths in the US involve drugs that have been legally manufactured but diverted into illicit channels. Our technology works to customize and develop requirements for any industry that encounters the threat of diversion or counterfeiting," he added.

PHARMORX Security offers an end-to-end solution to diminish counterfeiting, diversion and return-management issues. Technologies and services include:

Serialization for Track & Trace and Diversion Control
- Unit-level product identification via high-speed, proprietary passive encoding, and variable data printing of 2D barcodes and human-readable codes
- Product traceability from point of manufacture to consumer
- Fraud detection and pattern recognition through data mining
- Software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, facilitating seamless integration with ERP's and existing packaging line systems

Authentication for Anti-counterfeiting
- Labels and cartons marked with proprietary multi-wavelength taggants and invisible inks
- Authentication in the field by supplier, consumer, and law enforcement

PHARMORX technologies coupled with security assessments, product and brand strategy implementation plans, security label design, and sourcing for printing equipment and packaging material, allow PHARMORX Security to provide end-to-end customized security solutions. Additionally, the company's Software-as-a-Service (SasS) model, facilitates seamless integration with ERPs and existing packaging line systems.

"PHARMORX's technologies and services give hope to law enforcement to attain the next level in our fight against drug diversion," stated John Burke, President of Pharmaceutical Diversion Education, Inc. Over 15 million Americans nationwide are abusing prescription medications, including 2.3 million teenagers. We need to start taking this problem more seriously and this company is providing tools to the industry to do so," he added.

PHARMORX Security will be demonstrating its serialization and authentication solutions at this year's INTERPHEX show in Booth 3261.
