P&G Beauty & Grooming to present advancements in skin aging & stress sweat at AAD Meeting

cellular activity. Older cells, in particular, showed a heightened sensitivity to oxidative stress response, suggesting that aging and environmental factors negatively impact cells' ability to produce and consume energy. Overall, the combination of niacinamide, pal-KTTKS and an olive oil derivative has been shown in vitro to help restore aged skin cells' response to a younger state.

Significant Protection from Event Sweat Without a Prescription (P6677)

Perspiration due to heat and activity is primarily driven by secretions from the eccrine glands, which are found all over the body. However, perspiration due to stress involves immediate release of sweat from the eccrine glands as well as secretion from the apocrine glands. Unlike eccrine secretions, the apocrine secretion is rich in organic materials such as proteins and lipids, and acts as a substrate for bacterial growth, resulting in malodor or body odor.

In this study, P&G Beauty & Grooming scientists examined a group of women in stressful situations to evaluate the effectiveness of a Clinical Strength OTC (Secret Clinical Strength) antiperspirant/deodorant. Each woman was treated with the product under one arm while the other arm was left untreated as a control measure. After four days of treatment, the women were assessed through the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST), a method that evaluates stress effects by using physiological responses such as heart rate and salivary cortisol before, during and after a stressful event.

Wetness and odor evaluations were then collected from pads placed in the underarm and shipped to expert odor graders for assessment. The underarms treated with a Clinical Strength OTC showed a wetness reduction of more than 85 percent and odor reduction more than 50 percent during significant psychosocial stress.
