Torres is the first and only Olympic swimmer in history to participate in 5 Olympic Games. When she was 41 she became the first woman in history to swim in the Olympics past the age of 40. During her athletic career, she has won 4 of each gold, silver and bronze medals. At the age of 40 in 2007, 15 months after giving birth to her daughter Tessa, she won a gold medal at the US Nationals.
