Nextrials Wins the 2013 SCDM Data Driven Innovation Award for its EHR Integration Tool
Date:9/18/2013

(PRWEB) September 18, 2013

Nextrials, a leader in clinical research software and services, was the recipient of the 7th Annual Data Driven Innovation Award presented by the Society of Clinical Data Management at their annual meeting held in Chicago. Entries were vetted by a diverse team of judges representing all constituents of clinical data management including biopharmaceuticals and clinical technology. The final evaluation included a face-to-face live demo of the technology during the SCDM conference.

“We are very excited to be recognized for our work to utilize electronic health records for clinical research,” said Jim Rogers, co-founder and CEO of Nextrials. “Our commitment to the advancement of this technology includes 5 years of testing and validation at Connectathon conferences sponsored by the EHR standards organization, Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE). Our E2E tool is based on industry standards developed by IHE and the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC) and Nextrials is the only CDISC Registered Solutions Provider recognized for this standard. In addition to the functionality defined by the standard, we have added enhancements to better complement the research workflow including identification of data inconsistencies, handling of multiple data sources and subject enrollment directly from the EHR.”

Collecting clinical data directly from electronic health records has numerous benefits including the elimination of duplicate data and improving the timeliness of data. This new modality of clinical data collection is supported by regulatory agencies and is covered by guidances drafted by the FDA and the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
