New, Fast Forensic Technology Wins R&D 100 Award
Date:9/25/2008

which are now in development will use semen, saliva and perspiration, delivering results in less than five hours.

AbP ID is considered a breakthrough technology because it can provide test results quickly, without the use of expensive equipment or highly skilled lab technicians. The tests can be conducted in law enforcement crime labs, avoiding lengthy backlogs in specialized labs. AbP ID tests will initially be most effective as a fast, cost-effective screening tool to determine which suspects and evidence should undergo DNA testing.

Image ID(TM), a proprietary software program and 2003 R&D 100 Award recipient, works hand-in-hand to read the AbP ID test results and determine whether there is a match or no match between the evidence and a suspect. The Image ID software package also accumulates crime lab test results for future use. These results can then be transferred to domestic and international databases for expanded test comparisons.
