Die ‚überoptimistische' Gruppe tendiert zum Ignorieren der Asthmasymptome, um sich normal fühlen zu können, missachtet gelegentlich medizinische Anweisungen[1] und verschriebene Therapien, und ist am wenigsten interessiert, selbst Informationen zu Asthma zu suchen. Diese Gruppe hat die höchste Wahrscheinlichkeit für ein hohes Sicherheitsgefühl beim Krankheitsmanagement[1] und die geringste Wahrscheinlichkeit, sich über die Krankheit Sorgen zu machen (4 %). 63 % der Patienten in dieser Gruppe sind laut GINA-Definition ‚teilweise kontrolliert' oder ‚unkontrolliert'.[1]

Die ‚bemühte' Gruppe hat von allen Gruppen den stärksten Wunsch, ihr Asthma besser zu kontrollieren, jedoch fühlen sich nur 10 % beim eigenen Krankheitsmanagement sehr sicher. Diese Gruppe erlebt Asthma als bedeutenden Teil ihres Lebens und macht sich entsprechend Sorgen um die Wirkung auf die eigene Gesundheit in der Zukunft (83 %). Sie hat die größte Wahrscheinlichkeit, ihr Asthma als ernst einzustufen (58 %), und hält sich generell an die medizinischen Anweisungen (60 %). 95 % der Patienten in dieser Gruppe sind laut GINA-Definition ‚teilweise kontrolliert' oder ‚unkontrolliert'.[1]
