BALTIMORE, 26. November 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- BD Diagnostics, eine Sparte von BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), einem führenden globalen Unternehmen aus der Medizintechnik, gab heute die Verfügbarkeit des mit CE-Kennzeichnung ausgestatteten BD MAX MRSA XT-Assays für den Einsatz im BD MAX™-System in Europa bekannt. Der Assay nutzt so genannte eXTended Detection Technology zum Erkennen einer breiten Spanne von Stämmen von methicillinresistentem Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) aus Nasalabstrichen von Patienten, die von diesem arzneimittelresistenten Erreger befallen sein könnten. Es ist der einzige voll automatisierte Assay zur aktiven MRSA-Überwachung, der in MRSA (MREJ)[i]-Sequenzen undResistenzgene erkennt: mecA und das jüngst entdeckte mecC.[ii]

Die aktive Überwachung mithilfe von molekularen Tests zum schnellen Nachweisen von MRSA ist eine bewährte Strategie, um die Übertragung in Gesundheitseinrichtungen zu reduzieren und eine Infektion von geschwächten Patienten zu verhindern. Ungenaue Nachweise können zur unkontrollierten Ausbreitung von MRSA und der falschen Verwendung von Resourcen in Gesundheitseinrichtungen führen. Bei vielen handelsüblichen Assays werden Stämme von Staphylococcus aureus, denen das Gen mecA fehlt (häufig als „Dropout-Mutanten" bezeichnet), fälschlicherweise als MRSA erkannt. Diese falsche positiven Ergebnisse können eine unnötige und kostspielige Isolation und eine Überbehandlung der Patienten nach sich ziehen.[iii] MRSA-Stämme mit dem neu entdeckten mecC-Gen machen nahezu drei Prozent aller neuen MRSA-Fälle aus[iv], können jedoch von Assays, die das Gen nicht erkennen, nicht nachgewiesen werden.[v] Diese falsche negativen Ergebnisse können zu einer unkontrollierten Übertragung nicht erkannter MRSA-Stämme fü
