Martek's life'sDHA(TM) Now Featured in Two New Flavors of Rachel's(R) Wickedly Delicious Yogurt from WhiteWave Foods
Date:2/13/2008

COLUMBIA, Md., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Martek Biosciences (Nasdaq: MATK) announced today that life'sDHA(TM), its patented, vegetarian form of DHA omega-3 for brain, eye and heart health, is now available in two new flavors of Rachel's(R) Wickedly Delicious Yogurt. The new flavors, Pink Grapefruit Lychee and Marionberry Guava, join 10 existing flavors of Rachel's Yogurt that also feature life'sDHA. The entire Rachel's line is available at natural food stores nationwide.

"We are pleased to see the Rachel's brand expand its line with two new flavors of yogurt featuring Martek's life'sDHA," said Joe Buron, vice president of sales and marketing for Martek. "Rachel's with life'sDHA is ideal for consumers who want to incorporate a trusted, vegetarian source of DHA into their diets for brain, eye and heart health benefits."

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) omega-3 is a long-chain omega-3 fatty acid that serves as a primary building block for the brain and the eyes and supports brain, eye and cardiovascular health throughout life. There is a large and growing body of scientific evidence demonstrating that people of all ages, from infants to aging adults, benefit from an adequate supply of DHA omega-3 in their diets. Scientific reviews have noted the importance of DHA omega-3 in proper brain and eye development and function, and there are large clinical studies underway to evaluate its role in decreasing the prevalence of certain neurological disorders. Yet despite its importance, Americans have among the lowest dietary intakes of DHA omega-3 in the world.

Fish are often thought to be the only source of DHA omega-3. However, life'sDHA offers a trusted, vegetarian form of DHA that contains no oceanic pollutants and toxins. F
