MO BIO introduces a new kit for extraction of pure protein from soil samples

CARLSBAD, Calif., July 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MO BIO Laboratories, Inc., the leader in soil, plant, stool and other challenging microbial nucleic acid purification, recently launched the NoviPure™ Soil Protein Extraction Kit, for extraction of pure protein from all soil types. It is the first commercially available kit designed for extraction of extracellular and intracellular microbial protein from a wide range of soil types without co-extraction of interfering compounds such as humic substances.

The NoviPure™ Soil Protein Extraction Kit overcomes the challenges of efficiently extracting proteins from complex samples such as soil. The kit effectively reduces interference from contaminants which may render SDS PAGE gels — a cost effective pre-screen before mass spectrometry — unusable. The kit also produces higher yields and more accurate mass spectrometry results.

Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute's Proteomics Core successfully used the NoviPure™ Soil Protein Extraction Kit to extract protein from soil samples for protein identification by 1D mass spectrometry analysis. Khatereh Motamedchaboki, PhD, director of the proteomics facility at Sanford-Burnham intends to use the NoviPure™ Soil Protein Extraction Kit at the proteomics shared resource core and become the first center of excellence in soil protein analysis using Mass Spectrometry.

  • Higher yields through efficient extraction of intracellular and extracellular microbial protein from only five grams of soil
