Keynote Panel at Bio-IT World Expo to Feature Five Leaders in the Field of "Personal Genomics"
Date:3/31/2009

matic Approach to Biomarker Discovery and Computational Optimization
Christoph Bock, Department of Computational Biology, Max Planck Institute for Informatics will present recent work on computational epigenetics (performed in conjunction with The Broad Institute) that highlight a systematic workflow for optimizing epigenetic biomarker candidates for clinical applications.

Mark Boguski, M.D., Ph.D., Founder, Resounding Health Incorporated will present "Online Health Information Retrieval by Consumers and the Challenge of Personal Genomics" in the new eHealth Solutions Track.

caBIG®: An Interoperable IT Framework for Personalized Medicine
Ken Buetow, Ph.D. from the National Cancer Institute will showcase actual case studies of improved processes in discovery research, biobanking, imaging, and clinical research; new models of connectivity to enhance and accelerate research collaborations; and a new ecosystem to drive continuous learning from bench to bedside and back .

Comparing Public and Commercial Databases of Bioactive Chemicals by Content and Compound-to-Protein Mappings
Christopher Southan, Ph.D., EMBL European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) will compare content from selected public and commercial databases and review the different strategies used for extracting unstructured data from documents describing bioactive compounds and transferring them to structured relational databases for high value data mining.
