Keynote Announced for Virtual Event: Developments in Materials for Medical Applications
Date:4/20/2011

s currently working on a number of pioneering projects in the area of Controlled Release Technology (CRT). In addition to water-glass, Zhang's team is investigating bioceramics and is developing ceramic-polymer hybrid materials for orthopaedic applications. Furthermore, Zhang's team is developing bioactive polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and toughened ceramics using his knowledge and experience of micro-fracture mechanics, an area in which he has been active for 17 years. Prior to joining CERAM, Xiang worked as Director of Cambridge NanoTech, in the field of nanoconductive materials and diagnostic medical devices. Learn more about the keynote address and Zhang here.

Multiple speaker and chat sessions will follow the keynote address. In the first session, The Building Blocks of Medical Innovation, Dr. Wolfram Altenhofen, Vice President of Business Development at Leukocare AG, will examine functionalising medical devices with biological components in his presentation, "Novel Approaches to Shelf-Life Extension and Terminal Sterilisation of Biologic-Device Combination Products."
