KGI Names Kerry Howell Vice President for Advancement
Date:8/19/2007

CLAREMONT, Calif., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) today announced that Kerry Howell has been hired as KGI's vice president for advancement following a national search.

Howell, 50, has more than 20 years of experience in fundraising, communications, marketing and business development working with non-profit organizations, research institutes and universities.

"We are thrilled to have someone of Kerry's caliber and talent joining KGI's leadership," said Sheldon Schuster, Ph.D., KGI's president. "She has a strong background working with major individual donors and corporate partners, along with overseeing communications and marketing objectives. This makes her an especially good match for KGI as the institution seeks to expand its donor base and industry relationships to support its growing student body."

Prior to joining KGI, Howell was the director of development for NPower Seattle, a technology assistance non-profit launched with startup funding from Microsoft. There she was responsible for fundraising, corporate outreach, communications and public relations. Before this, she served as the president and CEO of Mutual Interest, a non-profit organization that helps homeless families secure affordable rental housing. She also served as director of development for ONE/ Northwest and campaign director and director of business development at the Hope Heart Institute of Seattle.

Howell also has experience in academia. She was the director of development at the Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington where she led a $7 million campaign to name the school in honor of former Governor and Senator Daniel J. Evans. At Washington State University, during its $275 million campaign, she served as the assistant director of development in the College of Engineering and Architecture, then as director of development in the College of Education.
