KGI Announces Second Annual Executive Education Conference for Women in Life Sciences
Date:11/20/2008

CLAREMONT, Calif., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) today announced that the second annual "Next Generation Bioscience Leaders: Executive Education for Women in the Life Science Industry" (NGBL) forum will be held Jan. 19-23, 2009, and will feature eight female CEOs of life science companies.

The forum is a partnership between KGI, which specializes in the development of business leaders in bioscience, and Smith College's Executive Education for Women, which specializes in strategic leadership development of women.

KGI and Smith College decided to host the forum again following the success last year's inaugural event. According to Diana Bartlett, KGI's director of corporate partnerships, the turnout for the January 2008 forum "was very gratifying."

Bartlett added: "Most of our NGBL attendees held doctorate degrees. Our scholars represented 18 life science companies, including biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, agricultural biotech, and research tools firms."

The NGBL forum allows high potential women leaders to learn from and network with executives from leading pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology companies. Seminars, discussions and speakers provide strategic perspectives in critical management and operational areas, including finance, supply chain, research and development, commercialization, and more.

The 2009 curriculum will address ways companies can improve and will emphasize new skill creation. The scheduled curriculum includes:

  • The DNA of biotech organizations - business models, organizational change, regulatory affairs, product life cycle
  • The brave new Biotech Century Leader -human assets, leadership strategies and teams, global resources and challenges, partnering strategies
  • Mapping your future in the indus
